Hello, I hope this is the right forum for my question.
I use Ulead DVD workshop 2 to capture video from my sony camcorder through firewire. While capturing, I choose DVD format (default is DV), the captured file is MPG file and it plays well on vlc or windows media player (I can even burn it to DVD and it plays well on dvd player). No problem at all.
BUT when I tried to load the file into Womble MPEG-VCR v3.13 program to try to edit the MPG file (the cut function between mark-in and mark-out is really neat, you guys might have other better software to recommend), there is no sound! Very weird.
Anything wrong with my capturing? Maybe I should tweak my Ulead DVD workshop 2 setting? I would appreciate any helps!
BTW, I use windows xp professional.

The way you've described your problem in the text, it appears you have a Womble problem, not a capture problem, since you describe the MPEG-2 capture as working. If you're getting sound in WMP and on the DVD, then I recommend editing your thread to change the subject to describe it is a Womble MPEG-VCR problem.
Womble MPEG-VCR has been discussed all over this forum, wherever MPEG-2 editing might be discussed, such as DVD Authoring, Other MPEG-1/2 Encoders, and even here.
I would be happy to move your thread to a more appropriate forum at your request, in order to reach more Womble users...but I'm not sure which forum is appropriate; Non-Linear Editing this isn't, and it's not an authoring issue. I'm thinking this question actually might be best in either Audio Related or in General -- but only with a Womble related title.
I recommend providing more information, such as soundtrack format -- perhaps that format is not supported by MPEG-VCR? I wouldn't know, as I'm not a user.
You might also want to contact Womble directly with this question: support@womble.com
And if capturing in DV is possible, you might consider the DV forum, where there is a step by step guide for DV -> DVD that may meet your needs.

Hi, sorry for the wrong title and wrong forum. I just changed the title. And pls move it to any appreciate forum as you wish. Thanks!
BTW, my colleage gave me one sample MPG file and it works fine in the Wormbie program.
Yes, I did try to capture using DV format, then use dvd2svd to convert it to a MPG file, then use Wormbie program to edit it. Few extra steps. My original thought was to capture the video to DVD format (MPG) directly and use Wombie to edit it. BTW, is there any tool available to edit avi file directly?
Thanks!!!

There are many tools to edit avi files directly, including some free tools, such as VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod, which have a forum here.
See the step-by-step guide I mentioned above: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60392
I'm moving this to Audio Encoding, since the problem appears to be related to your soundtrack. Good luck!
