3ivX with Nero codec issue

Yesterday I started installing various audio and video codecs on my new WinX Pro HTPC setup.

All went well after installing 3ivX, ie: my anamorphic AAC/Mpeg4 .mp4 files used 3ivX's filters in MPC to play the files. Even WinMedia Player 9 behaved its self!

That was until I installed Nero's Vision Express. Now when ever I play the same AAC/Mpeg4 .mp4 files in MPC, there is a conflict with Nero's NDparser. After de-registering Nero's parser everything works OK except Nero's ShowTime player can't detect and display the AAC stream in use (ie: AAC-HE or AAC-LC) in fact if two (or more) AAC streams are stored in the container, ShowTime will play them all at the same time!

Has anybody else come across this. And if so, is there an solution?

I was hoping that the two applications could happily co-exist with each other!

I'm also a little worried as to what happens when some of 3ivX filters time out :confused:

3ivx filters can co-exist and interact with ffdshow, coreAAC, xvid, ogm, mkv, avi filters and tons of others ... Ahead choice is different ...

I only ask because I don't want to waste alot time trying different install methods, if in the end, nothing will make them work together!

whereas nero limits their filters to only connect to themselves most of the time

You could try if it works with the latest build of RadLight. See "Media Playback" property page, namely the "preferred splitter/source filters" section.

I've also noticed that Nero's latest (v2.0.2.0) parser has changed. It now describes itself as being an: NeroDigital / mp4 / avi / mov parser!

Previous versions (such as 2.0.0.16), have only described themselves as being an: NeroDigital file parser.

So it would seem Nero digital can handle MOV files too!

Can anybody else comment (and why does this shit always happen to me first)?

Thanks you guys, my problem is now solved!

As you all mentioned it was all a question of priority!

After installing my codecs in the correct order I've been able to get my media players (MPC in particular) to respond how I wanted them to.

Ha, ha, after changing the 4CC of some of my anamorphic XviD and 3ivX AVI test encodes to NDIG, I've even managed to get WMP9 to use Nero's (NDParser.ax v1.1.7.35) DSdecoder to open them up at the correct AR. Which is not an ideal player to use I know. I just wanted to see if I could make it happen!

Anyway, for all those interested, here's my Mpeg4 codec installation order: -

01 DivX5.1.1
02 NeroVisionExpress (v2.1.2.9) Trial (with DSdecoder change)
03 3ivX D4 4.5.1
04 XviD RC4
05 FFvfv (2004 01 13)

I'm a happy chappie... I might even purchase 3ivX's cheapo filter pack!

And man I love those RadLight tools.

I also have dbpowerAMP installed (so I can generate my AAC audio files) and I did not realize it could offer info like this: -
