I have PowerDVD installed and it can play back my DTS track (on DVD movie) just fine. Also it can playback the .dts file that DVD2AVI generates during frameserving.
I would probably try to convert this DTS to either wave or AC3.
I read many guides where they ask u to install windvd. Do i really need it?

Normaly not. Cos a Decoder is installed with PowerDVD for playback.
PowerDVD added the DTS playback feature later than WinDVD. So this is why "installing WinDVD" is in most of the guides...

You could use dtsdec to convert to wave. If you want to use BeSweet(azidts) or Hypercube to convert the DTS you will need windvd.

so i have to use dtsdec to do DTS->wav
then use besweet to do wav->AC3 ?
There is no direct conversion from DTS->AC3?
Also wav is an orinary format so does it preserve all the surround affects and 3D sound etc that DTS and AC3 have?

Yes

You could use BeSweet(azidts), but you need windvd.
What is the correct command line to get 6ch wav out of dtsdec? I attempted this several weeks ago and the only usable files that I could get were 2ch files.
TIA

see readme.txt in zip
Multichannel wav output: dtsdec -o wavall > some.wav file.dts
Stereo wav output: dtsdec -o wav > some.wav file.dts
To play dts: dtsdec file.dts
