First: Sorry for my poor english!

Second: This is my problem:

I've tried to make a divx with AutoGK, but after a few second the program start, Windows crashes (exactly, DVD2AVI crashes...)

This is my configuration:

MoBo QDI Brilliant Intel 82440 chipset
CPU Intel Pentium II 300@450Mhz Mendocino
Video Matrox G200
HD Quantum Fireball 20.5Gb

DivX 5.1.1 Codec installed
XviD codec 1.0 RC4 installed
K-lite codec pack full installed

Also, I've tried with Dr.DivX, but the same problem (Dr.DivX crash) represent.

Why?

Hmm I'm not absolutely sure, but I think that I've read somewhere here in the forums that DVDtoAVI uses some special SSE or MMX instructions and if you've got an older cpu it will crash.

I'm not absolutely sure, so maybe some guyz with more knowledge like manono can help you.

But even if it would work, consider that MPEG4 encoding with such an old cpu would be pain in the ass because it would take a looooooooong time to encode the video!

if many progs are crashing on the same source it might be corrupted VOB or something... Or hardware problem (like memory fault).

p.s. @mvBarracuda: what is "bowling error" ? :)

Sorry my signature is outdated => it was an error under Win9X; in the 0.8 full installer there was a new vsfilter included, but not in the update distribution. I had the old vsfilter and so Bowling for Columbine crashed while processing subs :(

But I'll update the sign :)

@Mc|Atm0s

Please see my thread regarding AutoGK 0.8 and SSE;
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68657&highlight=sse

I solved it by changing to a PIII @ 500Mhz - it works, even if it's a litte bit slow...

btw, FYI version 1.24 now only requires MMX-capable CPU (which is checked at startup). So non-SSE-enabled PCs should be able to run AutoGK just fine.

Yes, my Pentium II 300@450Mhz Mendocino works...a little slow :D, but works!!!
