Im not sure if anybody has bumped into this problem before but Im about to, I just purchased a DVD-rom drive and Im wondering how will my Sound Blaster Live (value) effect sound output.

From what Im aware the Sound Blaster Live Value doesnt suppoert 5.1 however is a 4 channel card, I have a 5.1 speaker system (logitech z640)

Which ever software player I use (zoom player most likely) will I be still able to get rear speaker effects?

Yup no worries with it.
Plug it in and installed Power DVD selected 4 channel - Pro Logic 2, and very happy with the sound

Hmmm, I started with SB Live 5.1, then Audigy, friend Augigy 2 and when I got Audigy 2 zs, i finally hear the difference between SB Live 5.1 and all the Audigy stuff - man, Audigy 2 zs kick ass  :D

that was the next card I was going to invest in however there is a big jump in price difference from the audigy ES to the ZS 2.
