Pinnacle's Studio V9 is lousy for burning disks so I eventually discovered how to use Nero to burn the DVD image that was created by Studio.

I now need to burn a VCD (including menu) and Studio is no better at burning VCDs than it is at burning DVDs. The file structure of the VCD image is:
In Root folder...
render.dat
_z0000.mpg
_z0001.m1v
_z0002.m1v
_z0003.m1v
_z0004.m1v
_z0005.m1v
_z0006.mpg
disc.info
VCD folder containing
entries.vcd
info.vcd
lot.vcd
psd.vcd

Using the Nero wizard, If I use Nero to create a CD from an image, it expects the image to be in .nrg format so that doesn't work for me.

If I select "Video CD" option, and drag and drop the files listed above into a new compilation, the "Opens the Write CD dialogue" icon remains passive, ie for some reason Nero thinks the compilation is not ready to burn.

Can someone straighten me out please!

Don't use the Nero wizard. It handicaps you and keeps you from being able to do real work with Nero. Cancel the wizard and on the Nero GUI under File select Burn Image. I have no idea if Nero will understand the image your software produced. Nero understands its own image format (that's what the wizard wants) and also BIN/CUE. I'm not sure if it understands any others.

There is a "CD image traslator" called CDMage. It is able to read a lot of formats and outputs a bin/cue image.
