How do I make it stop? I get all sorts of errors in the picture. Isn't the FourCC working on my computer? Ahh, what to do?
(FYI, I have installed all codecs alot of times and uninstalled them alot of times but this is the best I can do, and I donät want ffdshow to play both formats.)

hi, this happens alot. check your decoder configuration for divx, untick "generic mpeg4 support" or something along those lines.

Yeah it works. But explorer crashes when the file is loaded in ZoomPlayer. It only happens when you load from explorer.
EDIT: reinstalled xvid, works fine now.
Actually I was pretty shocked the other day when I right clicked on an XviD movie to see DivX 5.1.1 codec was playing it back.
I think the
"generic mpeg4 support" is just RUDE :(
But as I read here on forums you must set to .xvid

whats wrong with having one mpeg-4 decoder also decode mpeg-4 streams from other codecs?
you wont get better quality if you decode a xvid encoded stream with xvid instead of ffdshow or divx5...

There really is no reason why you can't configure all your Mpeg4 (.AVI) encodes to play back with their own DirectShow decoder even via the Windows Media Player.
Providing you have all the popular Mpeg4 direct decoders installed, just make sure (as jimmy basushi hinted at) that you 'un-check' the priority settings in all your DS/4CC configuration settings.
Jeez, it's even possible to force WMP to play (anamorphic) XviD encodes using Nero's DS filter, by changing XviD's 4CC to NDIG!
Cheers
