View Full Version : Anyone have experience using VideoReDo or Womble to fix mpg's?

I'm using a Hauppauge PVR 250 to capture VHS tapes for conversion to DVD. I've heard the Hauppauge creates shoddy mpg files, however, that contain errors not seen until after the authoring process. This would make since because, while I have yet to make a capture that plays back in media player with any noticeable problems, I also have yet to burn one of those files to DVD without audio/video synch problems (video gets ahead of audio).

I've heard that these errornous .mpg files can be fixed in programs like Womble mpeg-vcr and VideoReDo. Does anyone know how to do this, and if it actually works? The Womble tool has a GOP Fixer, which finds PTS (presentation time stamp?) errors in any file captured with the Hauppauge. I've tried using this program to fix the file, but the authored DVD still has synch errors. I've also tried using VideoReDo, which has received a lot of praise here (http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13), by simply opening the .mpg and saving it (this might not be the correct process), but after using the "fixed" file, the authored DVD is still screwed. If anyone knows how to fix these .mpg's so they author without errors, I'd really appreciate some help.

Thanks,
Brent
