View Full Version : WM9 demux??
Hey! Is there a way to demux a wm9 to video and audio, then mux it again without reencoding the whole feature? I won't mind if I have to put into a diff container as long as it's playable. :D I searched a bit but didn't find anything. Thanks

As Windows Media is a closed standard, It's impossible to demux it and remux to a different container, AFAIK. In any case I've never heard of an application that can do this, sorry!
Maybe Graphedit(It has a lot of possibilities), but i don't know much on this program...

you can mux WMV9 in the matroska container if im correct (with graphedit)
but im not sure what your purpose is, why mux it into another format and then back again?
Jeeze, sorry for posting to wrong forum. Anyway I'd just like to replace the audio track with a another or add a extra one if the container supports multiple audio tracks.

This is posible with matroska container. Transmux the WMV file into a MKV on Graphedit, building a graph manually with matroska muxer filter connected after the WMV splitter, and a file writer inserted after that.
Then load the MKV in mkvmerge, and delete tracks or add other audio tracks as per your wish.

-- Simple Demux/Remux etc. --
Use MS's official tools in WME.
(Windows Media Editor and Windows Media Stream Editor)
-- Transmux to MKV --
In most cases, if you'd like to, you could remux WMA (and even WMV) into MKV too, using GraphEdit + MatroskaMuxer. But you might want to re-remux the result using VirtualDubMod so that the final result would be normalized. (The output from Graphedit doesnt have language tags, etc.)
Another possibility is, ASF2MKV from Guliverkli.
If you have your own server, you can "transmux"(?) WMV into MKV.
LOL!
Actually I checked both WM File Editor and Profil Editor but somehow missed out the Stream Editor. This is exactly what I need, thank you all especialy you Liisachan. :D :thanks:
