i know this is a video forum but outputing the video to my tv is no good unless i can output the audio
the davs500 has an optical in so i have to get a soundcard with an optical out
any recomandations preferrably cheap as i already have an audigy
my main concern is the type of audio i can stream
power dvd will do ac3 2 ,5.1 and dts through the s/pdif(same as optical) but what will happen when i play an xvid movie that has mp3 audio can power dvd decode it and send it down the optical and it comes out my surround sound speakers - it will only be 2 channel
the player dosent support mp3 cds but 1 guy i talked to said it dosent imply that the machine wont play it when it comes through the optical input
the next thing is menus
ideally what id like to do is when i go to work is switch the computer to tv mode and have the kids pick av1 and have a menu that they can pick a film from using a wirless mouse
the prob with tv (a 32" sony wega) is the txt is impossible to read
has anyone set up a dedicated box doing the above or know where i can read up on doing it
any and all help appreciated
