Demuxed m2v's don't play correctly.

I'm sorry if this is asked before(i can't even remember if I have asked this before!)

I use Procoder 1.5.0.22 in work and Procoder Express in my home to transcode NTSC DVD's to PAL. So i demux each PGC with DVD Decrypter (regerdless of version) and I have various m2v's ready to be fed into Procoder to make them PAL.

My problem is this. More than 90% of the demued files, wneh imported, don't show the correct duration (sometimes even show 30:01:02:38), thus they cannot be transcoded properly with Procoder.

I even try to play them with Windows Media Player and they cannot be played also. My workaround is to use the DVD2AVI>Avisynth channel that "corrects" the problem and I can make a proper transcoding, but it easier to directly import m2v's to procoder.

Of course, m2v's captured with our SD-1000 and properly created mpg's don't have this problem, so i have isolated this, when you demux m2v's from a DVD.

Does anyone have experienced this before? Is this a specific DVD Decrypter problem or is it generally a problem of demuxing an m2v from a DVD?

There are lotsa GOP-timecode faults on DVD's. The encoder guys are lazy on setting the correct time code.. But there is a reset to 0 flag in the settings menu. And u can wait a tad more and upgrade to Procoder 2.0. Its much better at this, and u can select if u wanna use the timecode from the file i think..

Actually the timecode that's embedded on a m2v stream is the same on the Beta tape when captured. Actually this is essential when you want to sync the subs. Even if I set the reset the timecode to 00:00:00:00, same thing happens.

And for sure, I'll upgrade to Procoder 2.0! It's only 150$ (my boss'll pay them!)

I made a test yesterday. I demuxed from the SAME vob a pgc using DVD Decrypter and VobRator.

The files demuxed by decrypter weren't playing properly, but the one demuxed with VobRator played fine.

So, it seems that this is a bug(?) of Decrypter.
Is it possible to have an "official" answer from Lightning UK?

It might be because you have the 'patch m2v timecode' setting checked.

Try turning that off.

Oh and you are ripping the m2v to a single file yeah?

I would also do a binary compare on the files each program produces. If there was a major problem, i'm sure the doitfast4u peeps would have let me know by now!

Does vobrator even rip a pgc? I thought it just worked at a file level.

Exactly, since I need the whole m2v to import it in Procoder. Do you have another suggestion? What is the best way to demux on-the-fly a m2v stream? I know that i can import various files in Procoder and "stich" them in a single file when outputting

Well, what i did was this. I demuxed on-the-fly with Decrypter a trailer that was 5.04 length. Then i opened the corresponding VOB with Vobrator and i demuxed the VobID that corresponded to that trailer.

So I had 2 .m2v's with the same trailer. One demuxed with Decrypter and one with Vobrator. Vobrator's imported fine in Procoder, but DVD Decrypter's didn't. Same thing stands when played in Windows Media Player. DVD Decrypters file doesn't play, but Vobrator's play.
