Fastest way from MPEG-2 files to Video_TS directory ready to burn...

Hello,
what is the fastest and easiest way to get
a Video_TS directory ready to burn via Nero
from MPEG-2 system stream with integrated
LPCM audio ?

Can I use IFOedit for this ?

I just need the *.ifo and *.bug files
and the conversion from MPEG-2 to VOB.

But it should not copy the MPEG-2 file,
but just patch it to insert the timestamps,
so I can forward and rewind as usual with an external
DVD player.
So I don´t want to copy the whole 4.3 GB File from
MPEG-2 to VOB, but it should just be renamed and patched, so
it should be ready in under 1 minute to be burned to DVD-R.

What is the fastest and easiest program to do this,
which is fully compatible with the specs ?

Is there no faster way ?
As I recall, when I tried DVD Author,
it also makes a copy of the original MPEG-2
files in a new folder.

Is there no basic authoing programm that avoids it and
can generate a Video_TS directory with all the IFO and BUP
files on the fly and just patch the MPEG-2 file for the right headers
and timestamps and the just rename it to VOB ?

I need to convert 200 DV tapes to basic DVDs which can be
rewinded and forwared, so I need the timestamps.
To wait for every 4.3 GB copying is just too much,
when I have to convert 200 DV tapes to DVD !

In short the answer is, No. Tmpgenc Dvdauthor is one of the easiest and fastest out there. If that doesn't suit your needs try Maestro.:eek:

You'll probably give up after a couple of tapes, or perhaps you'd use that time to learn what you're talking about and start approaching the matter seriously.

Anyways, for someone with your level of expertise perhaps the best solution would be purchasing a standalone DVD recorder. Then you connect the camera (or whatever plays DV tapes) straight to the recorder, insert a blank DVDR, push the button, and you got yourself a basic DVD.

This is exactly , what I want to do in Realtime
via my FAST Pentium4 3.2 Ghz machine !

Why should I buy an external DVD Recorder, when my PC is
fast enough to do it also in Realtime ?

What about the new mainconcept.de PVR Recording software ?

Does it do the job better ?

There is also Intervideo Creator 2 Platinum and ULEAD MF3,
which can do direct to disc recording in realtime from DV Firewire input.
WHich of these is the highest quality program with the best MPEG-2 DVD compatibilty and quality ?

There is a betapatch for ULEAD MF3 out there, that fixes some issues
with direct to disc recording.

Too bad that there is no documentation for what the other
patches are and if the need to be installed too ?
I only installed the betapatch and can now record in realtime.
What still not works is the fast forward and fast rewind button with my Panasonic DV camera NV-DX100 and
also during direct to disc menumaking it sometimes hangs with a DVD-RW disc.

Also it is too bad, that you can´t use these nice motion
menu MPEG backgrounds during direct to disc recording !
these only work, when you use the normal authoring with MF3... too bad ! That should be changed.
