View Full Version : DVD2SVCD: "Access violation at address 004984F2"!!

Hello,

I have been trying to create an SVCD copy of "American Gigol", but every time I try, the whole process suddenly stops just near the end, at the bbMPEG stage.

A message comes up saying:

Access violation at address 004984F2

And no matter what I do I can't get past this point! Any ideas what I can do to fix this, or what I may be doing wrong?

Apologies for the length of this, but I figure the most sensible action would be for me to include the log file here, below.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer,

Simon

hi and welcome to the forum,
my suggestion would be to first try to reinstall dvd2svcd, perhaps this helps.

oh and don't worry about the length of the post, including the log was definitely the right thing to do!!

cheers
steVe

PS: oh, i'm gonna move this thread to d2s basics. i'm sure they got a couple of more clues for you :)

These types of errors are very difficult to track down the source of.
Use the crash recovery feature in the "Misc." tab to restart from SVCD Authoring. If it fails again, you can use the muxed mpeg files "bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg" and "bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg" to author manually.

VCDEasy will do this, as will Nero, the latter is easiest but at the expense of chapters.

Hope this helps
Nick

PS Just to second Killingspree's point - this is an excellent first post. A fine effort!

Many thanks for the suggestions and friendly responses.

I tried the crash recovery feature, but the same happened again. I was going to try the suggestion of using VCDEasy to author manually, but won't do this simply because, on a test run of the muxed mpeg file, I found the visual frames freeze 13min before the end of the film (though the sound does not stop)! In fact, it appears this might have been what caused the d2s to crash (just a guess), though it still doesn't explain how the file came to be faulty in the first place.

My suspicion, however, is that it might have to do with spreading the film onto 2 CDs, because the film freezes after 1h38, at about the time the mpeg file size would fit onto the first CD (749MB). It's v mysterious to me, because as a 111min film, according to my settings it should have been spread evenly onto 2 CDs, not 98min on one and 13min on the other! I could be misunderstanding all this.

Finally, the audio is about a half-second earlier than the picture - something I wouldn't have known how to prevent or correct even if I had had a non-corrupted mpeg file. What a minefield!

I may try it with another film, and/or reinstalling too, with fingers crossed. . . and see what happens.
Thanx again, Simon

:)

Yes.. and try to install TMPGenc in an "normal" location. Something like: "C:\Program Files\TMPGEnc Plus\" or "C:\Program Files\TMPGEnc Old\" if you like that "old" and without that "-".
