As long as you don't see it causing a problem it looks like it's worth enabling, at least for stills. Still, more tests are needed. This was only one disc on one machine. RB mentioned that only WinDVD failed, but I had no unusual problems in WinDVD from the start. And standalones are another matter, my Apex is pretty good when it comes to broken standards, for the most part it will play anything.

I do have one request that would make troubleshooting this a lot easier. Could you make the minimum VTS size to encode threshold a hidden setting? This would enable me and others to test a lot more still BOV sets, since they are usually in small VTSs.

Oh cool, I didnt notice 2.0 was out. Those little menu problems were the only gripe with the best stripping tool ever. Good job :)

@jdobbs
I running my test image thru v0.53a and noticed no change (at least with CCE 2.5), which made me come back here and re-read your last comment.

I checked and the original stills in my test disc do have the endcode "00 00 01 B7". So you may want to double check that.

Some late feedback on the subject, which is instead very relevant, imo, for obtaining perfectly working backups...

Verifyed and confirmed [just for the single title I am using for tests on the matter]. It works both on the PC players and on my standalone: switching on the Add Sequence End Code flag makes all the still menus and the button operations perfectly working...

@wmansir
By the way: which tools do you use to check if the original stills have this property ? Just some hexeditor ?

@jdobbs
much better still frames quality with 0.53a...

@Sir Didymus and wmansir

Good news, thanks. I'll add the code to make sure sequence end codes are inserted for stills in 0.54. It kinda' slipped through the cracks on 0.53a.

Yep, just a hexeditor.

Just to report and confirm that 0.54 fixes, on what I see, the issue.

Tested, on a single title, but with plenty of stills that previously made the CCE backup absolutely not usable.

DVD-RB produces now a perfect backup, and the behaviour of BOV is exactely the same of the original, both on sw players and on two standalones.

Congratulations, jdobbs !!!

Good to hear! This will be very useful on some pesky kids titles from a company that has two big ears in the logo.

In re-reading the thread I think the errors involving BOV were fixed or attributed to external programs. I re-did my test disc and v0.54 fixed the issue for me too.

So I'm going to close this issue.

However, more feedback would still be nice, since BOV is a large step on the way to menu re-encoding.
