Can anyone tell me if WMP 9 for Windows XP will playback DVD movies files ? They are Vidieo_TS & VTS Files associated with POWER DVD Player program . When I choose file and open from Windows Media player. Medai Files (all types) are listed but these DVD VTS files do not show up on the list unless I choose ALL file types.
Thanks

I believe that wmp9 is able to play dvd files by default. In my system this is true, however I have powerdvd installed as the default dvd player and maybe wmp is using powerdvd's filters for its own purposes.

it is true that wmp 9 will play dvd's but I dont think it will if the files are on your hard drive as that circumvents its copy protection feature, thou dont quote me on this.
hope this helps.

For DVD Playback in WMP9, you need to have atleast one commercial DVD Player to be installed in your system.
After that, go to Play > DVD, VCD or CD Audio > and you should be able to play your DVD.

right, WMP9 doesn't come with it's own decoder :)

you can't play files on your hd this way though...
to do this, just go File > Open...
select 'Any File' in the drop down box and choose the ifo file from the DVDfiles you want to play!
cheers
