Hi, PROs.

1. I can't drag and drop files from floppy to HD or vice versa, or between folders in my HD. An error message appears, saying that Explorer has committed a fault.

2. I can't shut down completely - the monitor goes off (the monitor light starts to flicker instead of being steady) but the green light in my computer stays on. After a long time, if I switch off the mains, and later start the computer again, ScanDisk comes.

I'll be grateful of any suggestions. I don't want to format if I can help it.

Thanks, and regards.

I think Windows Repair will help you...

Thanks, Tuning.

I've already had Windos re-loaded once - that didn't change anything.

When I click on setup in my Win_Me CD,

1. Windows first checks my drive C,
2. then asks to close all programs,
3. then gives out a license agreement to agree to,
4. then requests the CD-key number,
5. then checks for any problem in the HD, and cheks for available free space,
6. then asks whether I'll save my previous system files for later uninstallation,
7. then informs that now it will start copying files to my computer.

There is no offer to repair. So how do I repair Windows?

Regards.

Sorry, repair option is only available in XP/2000. You can overwrite windows me to same drive, I think. I don't have any other idea.

There are several threads on explorer conflict. Sometimes the solutions to these problems may help.. :search:
