Hi. I created a MP4 file using Nero Digital. It was played by MPC fine. After that i decided to add another audio track to it. I created an AAC audio file from ac3 with BeeSweet/NeroAAC. Then I installed MP4UI, opened my original video MP4 file(the one with video), and tried to import AAC file. MP4UI said, that it couldn't make this audio file ISMA-compliant. I disabled the checkbox "Make ISMA-compliant" in the options tab, and tried to open aac file again. MP4UI crashed.

When i restarted MP4UI and tried to open my video mp4 file again, MP4UI said, that file is corrupted - the actual message was:
------------------
Exception: MPEG-4 Internal
Reason: couldn't open file (no such property moov.mvhd.modification Time)
--------------------

Media Player Classic also refused to open this file with this error log:

So, it appears, that MP4UI corrupted my file
The question is: are there any MP4 utils, that can fix this file? AFAIK it's not the movie stream, but some service field is corrupted.

yeah mp4ui is dangerous, also because it changes the file right from the beginning and doesnt offer something like "save as", i already told the mp4ui author about this, dunno if he will change this behaviour

you can try to remux to another .mp4 or to demux the stream with the other available mp4 tools, like 3ivx (in graphedit), mp4box (latest cvs), quicktime aso

mp4ui shows that a tool, which seems to be the easiest to use, doesnt mean that its also the best :(

Yes, this problem with MP4UI is a shame.

Usually if I'm going to do the sort of thing you are proposing I make a copy of the file first and work on the copy.

I can't think of anything worse than spending hours generating an encode only for MP4UI to corrupt it!

I invited the author to join us all here on the forum as his application certainly shows promise and is just the sort of tool we need... but as yet there's been no response!

Shame :(

The worst thing is that i aleready returned this DVD :-(( And i had srt subs and japaneze aac track ready to be muxed. Well, next time, i think, i'll simply demux video stream from MP4 file and repack it to Matroska with mkvtoolnix.
BTW, i tried to mux my MP4 file (mp4v video & mp4a aac audio) and a separate audio track in mkvtoolnix. The result was a matroska file with both audio tracks, but _no_video_. It seems, that mkvtoolnix does not demux mp4v streams :-( - a thing that coulā be helpful when repacking MP4 videos made by Nero Digital to Matroska.

You should try the 3ivx MP4 splitter and muxer, it can be very tolerant of corrupted files.

I AM using 3ivx splitter. How do you think, i was opening and playing MP4 file in MPC?
BTW, great thanx for the wonderful splitter/decoder. If only 3ivx also supported Nero subtiters... But i guess, it's Nero fault :-)

The other thing i would like to have is MP4 support in VirtualDubMod :-)

Can't have enough :-)

Aboo,

What happens when you play your encode using Nero's ShowTime player. Can you see the subs ok?

Cheers

Yeah, right. When i use Nero ShowTime i can see the subs. But when i want to give my rip to a friend, i have to give him nerovision express package too. That's no good. :-/
