Greetings: Have been following this forum with much interest over the last two weeks while on holiday. Am setting up a 92" screen and PJ and have not seen any comparisons done. Has anyone compared a backup done with Shrink, Decrypter or CloneDvd splitting to two dvd-r's and a backup done with DVD-RB comparing quality of picture??
It is one thing to view on a 32" tv and another on an 8' screen. Keep up the great work jdobbs. Watching the development of this software has been most fascinating!!!!!
Any feedback would be most appreciated. I am looking forward to getting home to try this software. No equipment to use in Barbados.

If one is splitting the original to 2 dvd's, then no compression is needed.

So, of course that the split method will have superior quality.

DVD-RB used with CCE give's GREAT quality, but it's still a compression.

DVD-RB's quality will be the same* as any method that uses CCE. There is quite a long thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55844) in the 1-click subforum that compares CCE to DVDShrink and contains quite a bit of information and opinion on this topic.

*in most cases. Since DVD-RB recreates the video structure exactly it can handle some sources better than other methods. However, some material can be encoded more effeciently than the method used by the source (like Telecined material that is encoded as interlaced), so by not recreating the source's structure exactly you can get a better looking picture.
