Bad Frames in WMV9

I downloaded a movie of a tournament final from the official website. But in the end the pucture stops. If you press the second after it stops it plays normally. But if you wait nthing happens. I have downloaded the file 5 times and the error is there all the time. How do I fix a bad frame in WMV9?

I don't think you can. WMV is a closed format. No tool is avalible to fix it.

That sucks. WM Encoder 9 then? It can't handle that? Or some pay program?

If you are really want to spend the time, try transmuxing the WMV9 video to another container and deleting the frames that are suspect.

If you have Windows Media Encoder 9 installed, you should have Windows Media File Editor installed.

Start > All Programs > Windows Media > Utilities > Windows Media File Editor
File > Open > browse for your WMV file
Move the slider to last frame before the bad frames starts
Press Mark Out
File > Save As and Index; save it as your_move-fixed_part1.wmv
File > Open > browse for your WMV file (again)
Move the slider to first frame after the bad frames finishes
Press Mark In
File > Save As and Index; save it as your_move-fixed_part2.wmv
Exit Windows Media File Editor
Use WMVappend (http://mcored.2minnoodle.net/downloads/WMVappendGUI.rar) to combine your part1 and part2 files.

Edit: the RAR file contains a GUI which needs Microsoft .NET Framework (http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/a/c/aac39226-8825-44ce-90e3-bf8203e74006/dotnetfx.exe) installed.

... or you can try commercial applications like AVI MPEG ASF WMV Splitter 2.31 and AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner 4.61 to cut and join the WMV file.

Did you try using asftools? http://www.geocities.com/myasftools/
It should be able to fix the problem. All you have to do now is delete the bad chunks, fix total time, fix play time and fix time codes.. It should work fine after that.
