Pal -> Ntsc -> Pal ??

I have an interlaced NTSC source, created from an interlaced PAL source. I'm having trouble getting it back to PAL. Anybody have any ideas?

Actually, I'm not completely sure it's from interlaced PAL. Is there a such thing as progressive PAL?

Yes, there may be 'progressive' PAL (25fps) instead of interlaced PAL (50 half fps or 50 fields per sec)

if it is a 25fps to ntsc conversion, there are good chances ofrestoreing the PAL-Video.

But if it was true interlaced PAL, you cannot restore the true PAL Video.
a backconversion of such PAL->NTSC Video to PAL will result in a very blurry video (ghosting, motionblur and spatial blurring)

Hi-

Don't give up so quickly. By just deinterlacing it, you're pretty much guaranteed to wind up with a blurry mess. I'd suggest giving RePAL a try.

I threw repal's avisynth script through virtual dub. I looked at a part and this is how it looked when something moved:

RePAL created a streak behind quite a few moving things. Plus, smooth motion became jumpy. Thanks for the suggestion, but deinterlacing still looks better.
