vpr file?

I just ran my first encode with cce 2.6 I encoded an avi file . The output was an mpa file and a vpr file which win xp cant open . I expected to get an mpeg2 file . I set up cce using the guide I found here . What is a vpr file and wheres my mpeg ? No doubt I did something wrong can someone help with this

What encode mode did you use? Also open the Options - Extensions... menu. Do you see a VPR extension there?

Okay I made a couple of mistakes WHat Im getting is a vaf file along with mpv and mpa . win xp dosent recognize them except for the mpa . I used the mpeg2 multi pass mode .Sorry about the mistakes .

The MPV is your video file. You can rename it to .MPG and then double click it to open in your software player. Obviously, the next step now is loading the MPV and the MPA into an authoring program.

Awesome .thank you very much for your help . aparently theres alot I dont know ,although I went by the guide I found here . Oneor two more question please . I want to use Tmpgenc DVD author to author the file .Will it accept an .mpv or should I change it manually to .mpg . Also is it normal to output an .mpv or is something set incorrectly in cce .Lastly is the vaf file unimportant to the next step if not how do I incorporate it

The point is that you want CCE to output an "MPEG2 elementary stream", that is, a video-only stream that you can multiplex with an audio stream in your authoring software. You did everything right, MPV or M2V are commonly used as a file extension for MPEG elementary streams. Software players will happily play such an elementary stream, it's just that usually in Windows .MPG is a registered extension but not MPV or M2V.

The VAF file is a video information file that's only useful to CCE, it basically stores information about the complexity of each frame. You can read more about it in the manual, you don't need it for the authoring step.

Once again thanks . Can I trouble you with one more quetion . What should I do for the audio . I see from your reply that theres a better way than what I did which is let cce encode that also .
