I've never noticed this error, because I always processed the audio externally.
But now I need AVISynth to pass thru the audio, but I do not hear any thing.
VDub's File info says:
Audio Tag: 0x0001 Not Decodable (PCM)
every other parameter (samplerate, sampling depth, channels etc) fits to the source specified within avisynth....

Can you give some more info? Script? What kind of audio? If it's PCM, can you play that in graphedit?

it is a mpa (mpeg1 layer2) audiofile, I opened via mpasource.dll.
I can remind it did work some time ago...
loadplugin("C:\x\mpasource.dll")
mpasource("voy.mpa")

I really hate it.
After restarting Windoze, I've got the sound working....

On my computer, VdubMod (1.5.10.1) sometimes loses the audio on some avs files. The source is simple huffy capture with pcm audio, but the audio stream is not listed, and the script is just a couple of filters. Now that I think of it, MAYBE it happens when DUST is in the game, or maybe not...
I just reload the AVS and the sound is always there.
