question on timestamp

What exactly does the timestamp do?

Then make sure the timecode is set to 00 00 00 00 rather than the default 01 00 00 00 (that would mean your video "starts" at 1h). Note that until CCE 2.67.0.16 this function did not properly work, so if you're using a version lower than 2.67.0.16, you'll have to manually change the timecode for each video you're encoding, after importing them.

but I'm wondering, would that have to do with how the chapters connect to each other?

I.E., if I left it as default (01 00 00 00) would there be a one frame pause inbetween chapters???

Very good question. In the CCE manual it says that "time code 00:00:00:00 has special meaning to CCE, and avoid using it", however it never states just what that "special meaning" is. I wonder if anyone here can help.

It only affects how the authoring app syncs the streams etc, it is of no meaning to DVD players when they playback the final output. That's what guru mpucoder says anyway :D

Using 00:00:00:00 with CCE is not problem at all, that's what the big 3, for example, uses. Using a non-zero timecode can be a pain in the backside with Scenarist because the subtitle files (ssts) have to be adjusted accordingly i.e. every subtitle time value has to be incremented by the value of the timecode. Fortunately in Maestro the value can be reset for subtitle import purposes.
