Two quick questions - I have the pass number set to 3 for CCE Basic - does this mean 2 passes? Also what exactly does Half-D1 mean (sorry if its an obvious question!) in the AVS menu? Thanks!

Half-D1 is a standard just reduces the horizontal resolution down to 352. So instead of 720x480 (NTSC) you'd get 352x480. Interestingly if you are watching on a typical TV with a composite connection (for instance) you can't really tell the difference. It is an easy way to save space -- but degrades the picture quality.

CCE Basic will only do 2 passes (VAF and Encode) no matter how many you set.

In DVD allowable picture resolutions are:
MPEG-2, 525/60 (NTSC): 720x480, 704x480, 352x480, 352x240
MPEG-2, 625/50 (PAL): 720x576, 704x576, 352x576, 352x288
MPEG-1, 525/60 (NTSC): 352x240
MPEG-1, 625/50 (PAL): 352x288

(Pulled from the DVD FAQ)

Thanks jdobbs - I have done 3 DVDs now and on the last one I used Half-D1 for all the extas and they looked much better than the first two dvds i tried. In another thread I put images on how bad they were (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74971). Maybe Half-D1 is the way to go for extras then?!
