Hi folks,
I did some searches around the question:
is it possible to encode directly from a single 6-WAV file (as produced by bidule using EOHīs guide) to dolby surround prologic I/II without creating a AC3 file?
Hope someone can give me a hint

If I understand correctly, you want to go from a Ambisonic decoded 6chwav to Dolby Surround, right? If so don't do it, as it will completely destroy the sound field. just use the original 2ch source

it will completely destroy the sound field
I donīt think so - still some effects must be left!
Idea and backround of this question is the fact that Iīve created some DTS/AC3-Audio CDs - now I want to hear the same stuff in my car or by other fellows (they are mostly not DTS/AC3-Audio compatible ;) )
So I always make two discs -> why should the 'normal' CD be stereo when I have multi channel sources ready???
Thatīs the reason to go back to old surround prologic...

Hi kempfand,
do you know a other working method to get real surround sound from a 6wav in prologic
Maybe LCR_Upmix (2 channel mix) should be the right alternative to make those stereo tracks sound more interesting

but it makes me wonder why it is possible to feed an AC3 file (which is also an endproduct) to downmix in dolby surround prologic I/II  , does this mean the sound rest after downmix in 'ordinary'stereo :(

Try this:
Open wav under graphedit. Insert matrix mixer and force him to produce output dolby prologic II, and output to wav dest, and then to wav file. I dont know if this will work, cause I'm now at work so I can't test this.
You can also try to have fun with foobar2000. This tool has many convertion options.

the only reason dvd players downmix the 5.1 track is for combaitbilty with stereo, thats why older dvd's had a seperate 2.0 track
