the satsuki decoder pack is a filter based A/V decoding pack.
it can decode :

+Most of mpeg4 based video (ffdshow)
+All real media (included real 10 elesyan & real AAC/AAC+ & HFE2)
+Windows media 7/8/9 (audio & video) & asf
+Mpeg2 / DVD
+On2 vp3
+On2 vp6
+All subtitles

+XVD (new format witch new a dedicated player or my pack and any player ^^)

this pack contain the last media player classic

it is 100% free and is realy very stable and don't make a mess in your codecs like ACE or NIMO codec.
my pack is filter based, it doesn't contain any encoding codec (that's au decoder pack).

this pack as a long history but a haven't any time to make a dual-language install.

this pack installer is made with NSIS 2.0.

this pack chach my website at the install to check if a newer version is online (it's not a spyware or so).

you can of course install only one of the filter if you like.

my website is in frensch only but it will probably change when i'll had some time.

I totally disagree, without codec packs average end users won't be able to playback new A/V encodes. That's why even the great Matroska team created a codec pack, so newbies who simply just want to watch a mkv can do it easily. In fact without the codec pack, newbies won't even know how to install the matroska splitter separately, it's just to complicated for them.

i'm totaly agree with you, codec pack sux, that's why a made this DECODER pack witch only use filter and no codec, it don't mess up you codec configuration.
it also unreg copy & reg the filter it use, so it is no double reg bug possible.

it as no bug nor confict reported yet (for this version and the 1.0.3.1 at least).

i hate ace codec pack & cie because when you have installed it, you probably need to reinstall windows too ^^, my pack is not like this.

+ if you burn a cd of tests or clip made with a lot of différents codecs, put my pack on it, it take only 5.3mo and it can be use by any nooby.

after apple mail me to remove the quicktime support of my pack, i've mailed real several times (4 or 5 i thinks) and never had any answer.
so i'm waiting ...

i also think thats alernative decoding pack for real media help then to extend ther codec popularity.

the real media is FOR ME the best actual codec for anime, but i would never used it if i had to use realmediaplayer or realone.

i make this pack with the hope to help but if you don't whant to use it, just don't use it, but at leat, test it before (you can't say a think is or or not without have tested it ^^)

I wonder when you guys making all those codec packs are going to start asking for permission? While I support anyone who wants to include one of our filters in his pack I would really like to know who, when and where ( your pack includes several illegal codecs which might be a liabilty for us)

P.S Codec packs are evil, but RadLight solves all codecs problems by it's fully customizable graph building engine.

i think i'm polite but my english is very approximative, soo if i'm not, i appolyse for it.
ps: my pack is made for the easyest use with the most stability, when you know exactly witch filter to use and how to configure it, you don't need decoder pack (my pack is NOT a codec pack , but a decoder pack, i hate codec pack). but no everyone know how to do it.
media player classic can also decode a lot of file by imself (because of a lot of build in filter) and i like it a lot more that your player (never use it) but that's MY opinion, everyone must be free to choose is player, that's why i include in my decoder pack the filters that mpc as already built in, so everyone can play his favorite vidéo with his favorite player.
if you are here to tel me "you pack is useless, just see and use my soft" i'll ansew you "i want to be free to chose my player !"

of course i'm planing to update it as often as possible (it'a already 1.0.3.2 and i've started with version 1.0.0.0)
but for some of the filter (ffdshow for exemple) i may use a older version because of stability.

Yes i know.
the main problem is that most of the "video boss" have tester only one or 2 codecs pack, and it probably was ACE or nimo or other like them. (and to MY mind these pack are not very stable and make a mess in your pc).
so now when you tell them "decoder pack" they think "mino" or "ace" and say, "it's useless" or "it's not legal" and i can understand them.
but i'm always testing the softs before make my opinion, it's a pity that not everyone do the same .....

Yes , i've replaced le MPC fr by MPC english because (i don't kown why) the "save image" and "properties" are not usable in frensch version.
i've also added english language ^^.
i've added a version checker (when you install it, it connect to my website (silently) and if a newer version is detected it ask you if you want to go to my site to download it)

So: it will be good if you would separate "+All real media (included real 10 elesyan & real AAC/AAC+)" in a single decoder pack.
Then even people that don't like packs or people that already have all other decoders will find it useful.
And it would be easier to remove it, if real will mail you (I hope this will not happen).

Replacing MPC French by MPC English was good idea.
By the way "save image" suddenly stopped working in Russian version few days ago too.

My friends who are not audio or video geeks thank you. Most of them have been using your decoder pack since I pointed them to it at version 1.0.23 (might've been earlier). They haven't reported any major problems yet, aside from one of them really hating the Matrix Mixer for some reason. I'll get him to clarify more on that later.

I completely agree with not wanting to be stuck using RealPlayer or RealOne. HelixPlayer is fine, but not all of my boxes are sporting BSD MotorSports stickers. I have to keep at least one windoze box pumping so I can get my AviSynth fix. ;)

I kown matrix-mixer is not popular to everyone, so in last 4 or 5 version i've set it disabled by default (it is instaled and autoloader, but not active ^^ so it is easy to activate but don't bother the ones who don't like it)

if you whent a "real only" decoding pack i've the solution:
go to my site and download "satsuki yatoshui decoder pack MAKER".
it's in french but it's so easy to use that it won't matter.
this this little soft, you can do your hown decoding pack (based at thez moment on my 1.0.3.1 pack) with the filter you want, the max you can do is a copy of my pack, but if you want you can only check "real" & "mpc" so you'll have a real decoder pack with player....

just tried your pack-maker and found something I don't understand.
It is impossible to check "filtre ogg/ogm (oggDS)" and "Corevorbis" at the same time.This is strange becaus corevorbis does not contain a splitter. Or, am I confusing Corevorbis with CoreAAC?

yes it's a transalation problem, in fact you can choose between ogg + vorbis ds or corevorbis alone, but it wont work (sorry i wasn't very used of corevorbis when i add it).
i curently working hard to my decoder pack (big cleanup and update) and when it will be reported ok, i'll post a dual langauge version of my pack maker ^^

one more thing. after having installed the decoder pack, the windows file protection pops up and prompts me to insert the windows cd, because some file (don't know which) was overwritten by the installation. could you please have a look at this? the system is win xp pro sp1. thank you.

Never had this bug but it's probably one of the wmv file (i'll check).

for h264, all the tests i made shown me that ffdshow decode it at least as good as moonlight...if it's not, please send me me some bugy sample ^^

I only tried the clip that is available here in the forum (x264.avi) and with this clip ffdshow stalls at the start of the clip but decodes allright later.

+On choisit maintenant le système son pendant l'installation pour auto configurer les filtres audio (2.0,2.1, ou 5.1)
+On peux auto associer les fichier vidéo, audio, et playlist à mpc pendant l'installation.
+Au début de l'installation détection et désinstallation silencieuse des anciennes versions du pack / si une version égale ou plus récente est détectée, un message l'avertit et l'installation est annulée.
+Si ffdshow est détecté comme installation externe au pack, il est décoché automatiquement des filtres à installer (à verifier); si on le coche malgré tout, ffdshow sera désinstallé silencieusement.
