How Do I Change The Resolution Of A DivX AVI File?

I have an avi (DivX 3 Low-Motion) file with a resolution of 736x288 (2.56:1) [=23:9]. However, my standalone player will only play files with a maximum width of 704. How can i change the resolution of the file?
