hi,

if i can't reach a mod 16 resolution within my destination resolution range, would it be better to add borders or to use a mod 8 resolution ?

i can't see any disadvantages from a mod 8 resolution and borders could decrease compressibility, so it seems to me, that mod 8 is less harmful - is this true ??

greetings, Heini011.

I would keep the mod 8 resolution...

Some ppl have GC related playback issues with non mod 16 resolutions !!!

Encode a small mod 8 sample to see if it works for you... ;)

Btw, IMHO boarders (when used) should be also mod 16 compression-wise !!!

i tend to resize to mod16... you're really not going to notice the aspect ratio distortion on playback (at least i don't).

consider the average TV setup - usually the chairs are clustered around the TV, but seldom right in front of it, so you've got a natural foreshortening from perspective. a difference of 8 pix on one side is nothing compared to even the curvature of the screen IMHO.

IMHO,i'd rather crop a few pixels than resize the whole picture, because even the best resizer causes some distortion, maybe not noticeable with naked eye,but nevertheless...
