when i bought my lite-on dvd burner it came with a dvd rw disc. it was good because i used it as my testing disc until i could figure out how i could burn properly.

i ended up losing it so i just went to but another one. now i can burn no problem onto the new tdk+rw disc and the computer can play it but not my dvd player, my dvd player (new sony unit) had no probs playing the old rw disc but has prob with this one, i tried buring on dvd-rw and dvd+rw and i have the same problem, my burner supposedly burns on all discs and now i dunno what the hell to do because im having trouble making motion menus and need to be able to test them without destroying all my discs.

anyone know why my dvd wont read any new rw disc?

It's probably that your player doesn't like the type of dye used on TDK RW disks. Based on what I've heard, Sony players are notoriously finicky. It's an odd coincidence that you're having problems with both +RW and -RW disks though.

If you can, try to get an RW that the same brand, type (- or +) and speed as the one you lost. Failing that, you'd have to just try different RWs, hit or miss, till you find one your player likes.

Also, you can test your motion menus in a software player as a prelude to testing in your stand alone. It won't guarantee you won't produce some coasters, but it should cut down on the number.

You could also generate an ISO image of your DVD disc, mount it as a DVD drive using Daemon Tools, and then play it in your favorite software DVD player. If testing menus is what you wanted to do that is.

Even quicker may just be to open the VOBs directly in the software DVD player (e.g. PowerDVD).

i tried playing the movie in power dvd and all worked except the sound in the motion menu, (i made the menu in dvd lab) but i have trouble sometimes with ac3 sound on my comp sometimes which is why i wanna try it on cd's in my dvd player.

also the original disc had no brand name on it.
