Crop image

i have a original DVD movie (The Fifth Element) is a 4:3 movie with 5.1 Dolby Digital and i want to crop the upper and lower black bands transforming the movie in the 16:9 movie that it is. No loss of quality is permit. How can i do that?????

What region do you have?

I have the first release of this film on DVD in R1. It has 4:3 on one side and anamorphic 16:9 on the other.

Can't do this without quality loss. Both 4:3 and 16:9 movies have the same vertical resolution, so if you cut something out, you'll have to zoom the rest to fill the screen. If you have a zoom function on your player, try to watch the movie at 1.5x, it will give you the idea how the outcome would look like.
