i have two AC3 files, both of which i muxed with an XVID video (dual channel, using VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.1). each of the ac3 tracks will stop at random pionts during play back, but video continues. as soon as i move the slider, the audio comes back.

i'm usnig AC3 Filter 0.7b to decode the ac3 tracks, and i'm using ffdshow as the decoder. the XVID is 1.0 RC4. this happens in both media player classic, and WMP 8. i changed some of the settings in AC3 filter, tried to reinstall ac3 filter, tried to mux the ac3 with a DIVX 5 movie, and i also tried using XVID as the decoder to no avail (as opposed to using ffdshow, not like it would matter, just trying different things). i also tried reencoding the audio to MP3 and there were no lockups, so this leads me to believe the issue is with AC3 Filter.

does anyone have any ideas? i did some searching in the forum, couldnt find any posts about this =[

btw, my system is:
P4 2ghz / 512 ram
XP Pro
DirectX version? (whatever comes with XP)
sound card is Cyrstal WDM

While playing in MPC do you use AC3filter or the internal ac3 decoder? Try the internal decoder if you're not using it. Or try another ac3 decoder like moonlight. Other than that I don't know what the problem might be. Maybe if you tried to mux everything to matroska with mkvmerge? I assume that you are muxing the files to avi right now.

had the same problem almost a year ago. And after more than a month of search I couldn't solve the prob. You're not the first. I think that my didn't work because one of the AC3 streams was transcoded, but it might be a problem with MorganStreamSwitcher, too.

i believe the problem lays within morgan stream switcher, not ac3 filter. if i force MPC to use its internal switcher (rather than morgan) it doesnt lock up at all.

btw, i used dvd2avi to demux the ac3 tracks, and did a direct stream copy mux with the XVID using virtualdubmod

right, should be a MSS problem. Don't know why it isn solved, as the switcher is opensource.
