I recently encoded Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and was amazed at the size of the resulting file. 2.8GB.

In contrast I also encoded Ronin which came out at 1.4GB.

I always use AutoGK to do my encoding and set the Quality at 75% which I believe to be a 2.25 Q - not that I realy understand the whole Q thing.

I also encoded Fellowship of the Rings - size was 2.4GB yet this movie is significantly longer than Prince of Thieves - almost twice as long if I remember correctly.

What is it about Prince of Thieves that makes the file so large?

Thanks

maybe more grain, maybe more details. Why don't you use 2-pass VBR as suggested?
