Ripping a DVD to MPEG?

I know its possible to rip a DVD to an AVI, but is it possible to do DVD to MPEG? Thanx!

DVDx - internal encoder or frameserverd to external(Tmpgenc etc) or premiere plugins(CCE, LSX)

Xmpeg - can use bbmpeg to encode from memory.
