I hope this is not too OT but I'm interested in a Virtual Burner that will appear to another application as a normal CD/DVD burner and write an ISO instead of burning a blank.
Anyone ?

Are you looking for a true virtual burner emulator or just something that can generate ISO images? I have never seen a virtual burner. As for ISO images, NERO can create those.

Yes - a Virtual Burner to "burn" the output of another burning App. to ISO, avoiding the CD as a medium.

You aren't the first to ask - virtual DVD/CD burner software (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71707).
As far as I am aware, no such beasty exists. Despite the comments in the other thread, I still can't think of a reason someone would need a virtual burner. An image holds files, and if you want to image some files you can do it much more directly using ImageTools, and bypass the whole burning phase. Is there really that much software that refuses to write to anything except a DVD burner?

Funny - I'm the first to search normally and in this case I searched with Google in all languages! Should have known that the deeper questions get asked here anyway.
Well as stated in the other thread, if a software only offers to burn to a real device your stuck with that.
Why OT ?
Well because the recording studio software I use makes intricate Red Book CDs which then go to the Pressing Plant where a glass master gets made. Trouble is that actually burning a CD is already risking the quality due to block errors and the like, while an image would be perfect. The "Pro" way around this dilema is to record to DDP or make a DDP image but these addons are expensive and just a waste of format conversion as far as I'm concerned when the end product is an audio CD anyway.
So, sorry for mentioning this - I just thought some of the genius programmers around here might know of something.
cheers
