is it me, or has the register got GPL confused with LGPL?

aren't sitecom selling this software? in this case they'd have to make it free (bar postage) to comply with the GPL, as well as releasing sources, including license with distros, etc.

but it would make more sense under LGPL. it's important to get these facts right - this is a very weighty precedent after all.

I don't believe they are confused. They can sell the router running GPL software on it for whatever amount they want. They just have to abide by the GPL (i.e. give the GPL Notice and GPL Source code to its customers)....
