DVD Burner Hack?

Are there any hacks, software/firmware, mod's, etc., to change the format of a DVD burner? I have a DVD +RW burner and would like it to work with DVD -R. I looked at several sites to see if any body address this topic and it seems no one has. I'll appriciate any info on this. Thanks in advance!

The only burner like this I heard of is NEC ND2100 that could be upgraded to ND2500. Unless the burner is actually manufactured to burn both formats, you won't be able to change it with a firmware upgrade. It's pretty much like asking how to upgrade a CD burner to burn DVD. Anyway, you won't gain much since the media price is the same for the +/- blanks of equal quality.

I have a Lite-On 411s which burned dual-format only at 4x, but then I upgraded to a Lite-On 811s "hack" firmware and now I can burn at 8x on dvd, without any problems :D
