The latest version of TMPGEnc DVD Author will only burn at MAX speed. The box as per the writing conditions menu has the speed option grayed out.

My burner is Nero 6 delux, and my recorder is an 8X PX-708A. I am using Memorex 4X DVD+R's which are only good to 2.4X. TMPGEnc always records too fast resulting in coasters. Since I have nearly 100 virgin Memorex DVD it would be useful to reduce the burn speed to the DVDs quality.

Does anyone know how to access the recording speed option. I have been authoring to an ISO file and burning with DVD shrink which allows recording speed selection. Pegasys has not answered my emails.

Welcome to the forums.

Apparently, TMPGEnc DVD Author doesn't have this option implemented so far. Why don't you use some other program for burning once you created DVD image. For example, you still can use DVD Shrink combined with Nero. In DVD Shrink, open VIDEO_TS folder TMPGEnc DVD Author just created, click Backup and set your burner and speed as required.

Thanks Dimmer, I didn't know shrink would accept Video_TS files. Works and saves me time.

Shrink doesn't actually burn the files, Nero does this. If you have Nero, then all you need is to open Nero in DVD Video mode and select the VOB', IFO's and BUP's.

I also use CopytoDVD. A free way is to convert the video_ts files to a ISO using Imgtool Classic and then burn with DVD Decrypter. You can tell Imgtool where Decrypter is, so once the ISO is made, it starts burning automatically with Decrypter.
