View Full Version : Weird Problem Need Help Diagnosing

I currently use the big three, cce sp 2.66, sonic scenarist pro, dvd decrypter.

I've backed up around 90 movies so far using this method. The results are great, however, I've encountered a strange problem.

Normally when you run your project through these programs, files are extracted to various folders inside the specific folder you create. One of these folders is the VIDEO_TS folder which contains the original files from the dvd disk. However, on my last two rips, when I'd go to the step of copying the vobs from the /0/ folder into the Video_TS folder, there were NO files in my video_ts folder whatsoever. Many may not see this as a problem, but as a result, the dvds I've been producing have been too large (they aren't taking into account the size of the original files left in the VIDEO_TS folder because they aren't there). So if I copy the files directly from the VIDEO_TS folder on the dvd disk (which one of these programs neglected to do), often times, the dvd will be greater than one disk can hold.

I recently upgraded my dvd decrypter from 3.1.9.0 to the newest version 3.2.1.0. Could this be the problem? Some sort of bug? I really like the new version (as it lets me break the 2.0x barrier in decrypting dvds which I couldn't before for some odd reason). Do you guys think this is the problem or another program? Also what program actually uses dvd_decrypter to extract the original video_Ts files? Doitfast4u?

Thanks. If it's a bug, hopefully, either the doitfast4u guy can add support for the new dvd decrypter or the dvd decrypter guy can fix it in a later version. Thanks.

I don't think copying the files directly into the VIDEO_TS folder from the dvd would work (after the doitfast4u step before reauthorist loads) as I am not sure if reauthorist would actually compute this in calculating the final size of the dvd. I assume reauthorist uses some sort of .txt document that doitfast4u creates.

hmmm...i have been using DIF4U 1.4+ and DVDDecrypter 3.2.1.0 for some time now and have seen no compatability issues.

are you sure it is not something as simple as having 'do not copy menu files over' selected in DIf4U and yet you are not using numen4u to reduce your menu vobs?
as I am not sure if reauthorist would actually compute this in calculating the final size of the dvd nope. as far as i am aware, RA performs its own bitrate calculations regardless of any calcs DIf4U writes to the CCEData.txt file

RA does it own calculations, based on the files it finds, so you will be fine if you just copy over the files manually

That was the problem.

I was fooling around with numenu4u and didn't realize it had checked the box for "do not copy menu files over."

yeah.. i think im going to suggest would be great if zeul could maybe pop up a box when numenu actually changes that setting (ie.. when it loads and the setting is off in dif4u and it turns it on, pop up a dialog 'just enabled do not copy files in dif4u') if the setting is already on then no popup is needed

Numenu doesn't change anything... that's controlled via a CLI switch /NOMENUITEMS or something like that

I don't think it actually saves the setting though.. just for tha tone run
