View Full Version : 1 CD to 1 mp3 without pauses?

Hello!
Is it possible to encode a CD so that there would not be any pauses between the tracks?
I have tried to rip WAVs, but they also leave a slight pause when the track changes.
Does anyone know about this? I have the latest BeSweet. If I use the encoding to "Single MP3" is it the answer or would there still be those pauses?
Thanks in advance!

The pauses (of 2 seconds) are added when the cd is burned. You can remove these pauses by selecting properties of the files to be burned (right click on the files on the left window in Nero) and unclick the pause feature.

hard way:
1-save all tracks as wave.
2- load the first track in wave editor (sound forge, cooledit, etc)
take the cursor to final of the track (in the last 3 seconds as sample)
3- load and copy the next track and paste to the end of the first track.
4- take the cursor again to the final of the track(the last 3 seconds)
5- open the remainder waves one by one and proceed as in step 3.
6- encode that big wave as mp3!
hint:
save the first wave file after each new wave pasted!
advantages:
you choose the intervals of the transitions (round 3 seconds)
no matter if the track start or end with fade.
some musics start/end with fade and in the last seconds
will be the start of the next track...
then the silences and intervals... gone!
well, this is the idea, choose your adjusts!

gapless playback for mp3 is offered by the lame encoder, but as its not really covered by the mpeg-1 standard i dont really know whether mp3 player (ie ipod) will support this

Use EAC (http://exactaudiocopy.de) and do Action -> Copy Selected Range Uncompressed.
EAC is the best CD ripping for all your CD ripping needs.

The small gaps are caused by the mp3 encoding. I think newer Lame builds have a no-gap option, but i've never tried it myself. And the question is if that will work on an ipod...
And that is basicly what Bond said :D

also when you are aiming to play your music on the ipod, you can also encode with aac, which provides far better quality than mp3 (as shown here (http://www.rjamorim.com/test/128extension/results.html))
also when you use the nero aac encoder it also adds gapless playback to the .mp4 files, but again its the question whether the ipod supports the gapless info or simply ignores it
you can search around on hydrogenaudio, i think this was discussed there too already
or simply try it

@ Henry The Ripper
do you know the alternate CDFS.VXD cd driver?
get Audio CD's as WAV files in the file system.
shows WAV files in a variety of qualities.
Then you can use your favorite Wave Editor program
to read directly from the CD....say "bye" to rippers and "jitters".
;)
@ all:
:o
excuse me all, please answer me:
how many gapless Henry The Ripper will get if he follow my "hard way" posted?
...in the last step he can choose aac or mp3 but my question is:
how many gapless ?

do you know the alternate CDFS.VXD cd driver?
I always thought this driver is limited to Win9x/Me -> no NT/W2K/XP/W2K3 support

You know Cd audio doesn't have an error correction mechanism, so the only way copy cd audio is to re-read parts of the audio to make sure it was read correctly. That's why rippers like EAC (and CDex) are usefull, they re-read and apply error correction if necessary, so you get the best quality possible.
Crappy rippers don't do error correction and will introduce pops, small gaps, and what more. I'm sure the CDFS.VXD falls in this category and will not give you good quality.

of course it have....and lots!!!!...
do you knew that less than ~30% of the data is music in audio cds?
the ~70 % "remainder" is for control and informations !
"so the only way copy cd audio is to re-read parts of the audio to make sure it was read correctly."
only if your cd source is a little "damage" with scratchs, etc!
"they re-read and apply error correction if necessary,"
this happen cos have problems in the lecture...
again...only if your cd source is a little "damage" with scratchs, etc!
"Crappy rippers don't do error correction and will introduce pops, small gaps, and what more."
crappy rippers don't introduce noises, they read the source without corrections.
...sometimes can't read, depend how much the source is damage!
"I'm sure the CDFS.VXD falls in this category and will not give you good quality."
give you exactly what is reading from the source!!!
if have scratchs, you will got scratchs cos:
cd players have filters (with limitations) to cut some noises
then you don't listen it sometimes.....but is filtered!
in pc you read data and don't analog or digital sound from cd
then the scratch is feeling as data!!!!!
how can the "no crappy rippers" get the data from audio cds without noises!?!?
filtering and changing something, of course!!
i don't want to rip cds like this with scratchs and little damages!
:)
"What do you mean exactly?"
(of course,my poor english)
Henry The Ripper needs or want many gapless or only a big mp3 file?
i don't understood this point !
then i ask!
