Hi,

Just installed new Realplayer version 10, build 6.0.12.857 (new according zdnet :) )
it supports 5.1aac in a mp4 out of the box, great i though, but then tried a mp4 movie with simple profile level 3 and 5.1 aac.
Got the following issues during playback:
- video played ok, but seeking is not possible.
- video only, no sound at all.

are there other ppl having the same problems?

neo75903, welcome to doom9 ;)

i think karl_lillevold can maybe help you with the problem

btw cool that realplayer seems to support .mp4 files with video again out of the box, i though this was removed!?
or does it do it via directshow?

Thx Bond. :)

I have been follwing doom9 forum's for a while, got me lots of useful information.
And thos doom9 guides, "Two Thumbs Up" :)
Maybe the MP4 guide need some update ;)

Yes, seems like Realplayer has some mp4 support.
5.1 aac mp4 audio only played fine even after removing 3Ivx and CoreAAc filters.

mp4 with stereo audio and video also played fine, though clip properties gave a 2kbps for quality :) Dont know playback is done by directX filters or build in support. Clip properties does not say anything about the filter used for playback.

It all goes wrong trying a mp4 movie with video and 5.1 aac. Seeking doesnt work and sounds is abscent.

Hi all,

i have been looking for a all round player for mp4 and able to play following:

-mp4 file with audio(2 or 5.1) and video(Simple Level 3)
-Real time Streaming (RTSP), mainly Darwin Straming server.

Apple Quicktime works fine but does not support multi channel
MPC works perfectly, but does not support RTSP, or is there a way to do so?
re-installed Realplayer 10, it doesnt work well with mp4 videos, which is strange since i did managed to play 2 channel videos.

Thx

Hi,

Thx for the link, done the faq in the first place, but didnt got a clear answer from that.
Regarding to RTSP, i can only hope that either Apple or real comes with 5.1 support.
I havent tested WMP yet, but my prev experience is that it doesnt work neither. Havent installed WMP 7 or up.
Forget Philips ref player.

Thx for the answers.

btw link to dvd2mp4gui is dead.
