I'm currently using DVD Shrink and have found it a fantastic program. Thanks muchly for it.
I'm using a Compaq Evo n620c Laptop with a Sony 510UL external DVD burner and Windows XP.
I'm using DVD Shrink 3.1.7 and Nero for my burning of DVDs
I've also been having some problems with my latest batch of Ritek x1 DVD-R's and have had some of my copies fail. :(
Is there a way that I can copy the output files from DVD shrink onto a new blank DVD without re encoding the whole DVD first?
And if so, how do I do it?
Thanks in advance for everyone's help and comments. :)
Schotty.

Basically I encode the movie and then when it starts burning it fails.
Rather than encode it again taking another 30-60 minutes, can I just burn the encoded files from the temp folder I have created for my burning files.
I hope that makes more sense. Let me know if it doesn't.

If it were me -- and I was having problems using Shrink to burn DVDs with Nero -- I'd disable the "Burn with Nero" option in Shrink. Just go to File/Preferences/File IO and uncheck "Enable Burning with Nero." Then all you'll have to do is tell DVD Shrink to dump its processed files into whatever file you create for them, and burn at will. You can also try creating a disk image with DVD Shrink, and use DVD Decrypter to burn THAT... see if that fixes your problem.
Also, make sure you're using the latest versions of both Nero and DVD Shrink -- if the problem is related to a software glitch, it may have already been fixed in the current version.
Hope this helps you out!

I think it is a Media problem as it only occurs every once in a while, about 30% of the time with the latest batch of DVD-R's that I have bought.
Normally it burns fine, but at one stage I had burnt 3 DVDs and all had failed. The last one I tried, worked perfectly.
So it is very much a hit and miss operation.
If I have decoded the disk onto my temp folder (C:\DVD Shrink) and then the burn fails due to bad media, is there a simple way to copy the files from C:\DVD Shrink onto a new DVD(which hopefully works correctly).
or should I just decode it again and rerun DVD Shrink for the entire process.

Sure! Since you're using Nero to burn, just open up the Nero Express menu and click on DVD Video. When the interface opens, you'll see two folders: One labeled "AUDIO_TS", and a red one labeled "VIDEO_TS." Double-click on the red folder, then click "Add." Nero will then ask for the DVD Video files you want to add, and at this stage, all you'll need to do is direct Nero to the DVD Shrink Temp folder. No need to put all the files in one-at-a-time; Just click on the temp folder itself, and Nero will grab all the DVD files from it. To simplify this process, you may want to create a folder on your desktop and direct DVD Shrink to store its temp files there, so you won't have to go digging around so much for it later. (Really handy if you're doing more than one movie, since you can create new folders for each one.)
Then it's just a matter of having a blank loaded and ready to go. If Nero fails you, make sure the burning speed matches your media (or below, say 1X in the case of 2.4X)... if it STILL messes up, then you can try using Nero to change your DVD Shrink temp files into a disk image, and burn that with DVD Decrypter. At least, I don't see why that wouldn't work!

Thanks heaps for that WB.
I'll try it if the media fails again.

Shotty,
I use ImgTool for just this procedure (found at http://www.coujo.de). So much simpler than Nero.

You don't need Imgtool Classsic anymore if you have Shrink 3.1.7.6. It can save to an ISO image then load DVD Decrypter which then starts burning.
