dvd authoring in ifoedit - doubled play time

hi!i've got a weird problem,did some searching,but didn't find any answer,so here it is - the problem:

i want to make a back-up of a spanish movie - goya,i've extracted m2v,ac3 and sup files from the main movie,split them to 2 discs(1:20:45.400 + 19:13.360),but when i author them with ifoedit 0.96,resulting dvds have exactly 2x the play time they should have and they won't play under windows xp,under linux(latest knoppix)they play fine,but seeking is impossible...i've done some hex-editing of the ifo files,so now the play time seems okay,but playback/seeking is still broken:-(weird thing is,that those streams should be allright - opening them in vdm(directly/through avisynth)works and playing them with mpc(directly/avisynth)too...

no ideas?i think i've tryed everything known to medical science:

i demuxed the m2v stream through vobedit/vobrator/bbdmux/cut a piece out of some vob in mpeg2cut and demuxed after - still the same results:

m2v > vdm > correct play time,GOP structure IBBPBBPBBPBBP - closed GOP with 13 frames,
m2v > dvd2avidg > avisynth > vdm > the same,
m2v > restream > GOP structure IBBBBPPBBBBPPBBBBPPBBBBPP(?),
m2v > mpeg2schnitt > the same GOP structure,doubled play time and when moving through the stream with cursor keys it jumps wildly from frame to frame,e.g.1,2,13,14,15,21,26(looks exactly like playback of re-authored dvd under xp)...

any chance it's some sort of protection against re-authoring(errorneous m2v stream,or st.)?

yesterday i tryed to re-author that movie in ulead dvd factory(was bundled with my graphics card),but it froze each time just upon opening the directory with that !@#$%^& m2v file(it wanted to show a preview of the file,i think)...

did some more searching and found something about cutting off the 4k header from vob files with vobsplitter before demuxing m2v - didn't help...

I faced exactly the same problem recently and also still can't find the answer. I'm working with Kill Bill 2. Having muxed, ifoedit gaves me twice long playback time in ifo file. Power DVD played it OK, but showed doubled time. I played demuxed m2v in some mpeg player with 25 fps - the picture was too slow, so I changed fps to 50 and m2v began playing well.
I created project in Scenarist, but while preview video delayed to audio and subtitles (I think actually two times slower). But I didn't mux the project. I'll try as soon as it's possible, perhaps the result could be well. If you found something about this problem since April if I'm not mistaken, please write me, 'cause I'm stuck.

hi! i didn't find any solution for this problem, so i re-encoded the m2v stream through avisynth/quenc (avisynth was giving the correct GOP structure/playtime, remember?) - i couldn't find any visual difference from the original (i also reduced the size to fit the movie on 1 DVD), so i left it that way... not much help, is it?

Unfortunately I don't have experience with Avisynth and Quenc, but I'll find out more about these ones. I would like to get m2v encoded without any quality loss, so as I understood from you - no visual quality loss on the output. One thing - Avisynth and Quenc give m2v on the output or some other format? (avi for avisyth, for example), because I'd like to have m2v on the output.

Oh, if it doesn't bother you much could you please give me a few hints about settings in Avisynth and Quenc I should make to get good Pal 720*576 25fps from my m2v

Well, as I wrote above, I had made a Scenarist project of DVD, but I didn't muxed it to have final DVD. So, after complete muxing Scenarist created DVD fine!!!! Anyway thanks for guiding about encode soft. -))

you should have tried Rejigs authoring aswell.

Well, as I heard, Rejig has problems with PAL DVD authoring while IfoEdit has same trouble with NTSC. Despite the above I tried to author PAL DVD with Rejig but it began compiling me one big vob instead of creating DVD structure. Have I done something wrong?

hmm well i dont know of any problems with PAL personally but still worth testing anyway.

no you havent done anything wrong. Rejig creates/muxxes 1 big mpeg first and then splits and authors that.

I see. Rejig seems to use authoring algorithm close to one Scenarist uses.
First - creating one big Vob, then making a DVD structure.
Rejig works with big MPEG, then authors it.
