I'm trying to create a DVD with a lot of MPEG1 content (I can usuallly put ten 45 minute programs on a single DVD, but with MPEG1 quality, of course).
I got the MPEG1 content of the internet, and it looked fine. I demuxed the video and audio, and converted the audio to AC3 @ 48Khz to be DVD compatible.
When I authored using DVDMaestro, I got video errors at the bottom of the screen (usually blocks at wrong places or with yellow color - just like a broken MPEG file). The errors appear periodically, and always at the lower part of the image. The errors were visible both on a standalone player and using PowerDVD.
Using VirtualDub to look at the original MPEG file and the result VOB (Created by DVDMaestro), I could see the original MPEG file was fine, but the VOB wasn't, and has these errors.
Since I didn't do the original encoding I decided to try the encoding myself - I picked up an AVI version of the content and converted it to MPEG1 using TMPEGENC. I started with the standard settings and then moved to changing the GOP structure to IBPBPBPBPBPBPBP, and various other tests - all with the same results - the MPEG file is fine, but once DVDMaestro authors it, I get those video errors.
I would only mention I've successfully created such DVDs in the past using DVDLab, but now I want to add a subtitle track (whihc I didn't add yet), so I tried DVDMaestro, but got these errors.
It's strange, I thought the authoring phase doesn't change the video stream, just muxes everything into a VOB.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
