Hi all,
I have bumped into a problem while capturing from VHS tapes. In some parts of the tape the frames are completely white (Image1 (http://home1.gte.net/res0fidn/sk1.JPG)). Playing with brightness/contrast helps but not too much (Image2 (http://home1.gte.net/res0fidn/sk2.JPG)).
The weird thing is when I pause the VCR at that particular frame, all is so well. The frame shows up as it shows on TV, all nice and dandy, no messing with default values (well, maybe a little) (Image3 (http://home1.gte.net/res0fidn/sk3.JPG)).
The images are captured at 720x480, HuffYUV codec. I resized them to 50% in each dimension and made them JPG.
I first thought about macrovision but the rest of the video is fine. Can macrovision be applied partially? Or is it possible that VCR handles some of the frames fine? Maybe a driver issue? Or the VCR may need a fix?? Any ideas? I am stumped at this.
The VCR is a Samsung SV-5000W and I am using a Win-TV GO with BTWinCap WDM drivers (5.3.8). Capturing using VDub (I tried Virtual VCR, same problem) on an XPSP1 box.
