i'm not sure if i'm doing this wrong or not.. i need help.

here's what i'm doing:

1. recording from satellite to my dvd-recorder
2. taking that disc to my pc, and using dvd shrink to remove
commercials.
3. creating new dvd image from dvd shrink
4. TRYING to then use fairuse to render dvd to divx avi file

but.. everytime i try, fairuse tells me that all of the video files are in different formats, and it doesn't allow me to continue. also.. dvd shrink is making each of my edits into a separate title on the disc.

what am i doing wrong??

thanks.

dvdshrink doesn't have seamless title joining ability on purpose. Take a look at Nero Recode2 or Elby CloneDVD or DVD2ONE.

I use MPEG2VCR with DVD Author.

DVD Author while is excellent, MPEG2VCR can do frame by frame editing. I have taken out adverts with DVD Author and it has left a few frames behind.

I use DVD Author to create a mpeg file from my DVD RAM disc, then use MPG2VCR to take out the adverts and then create a new shorter mpeg file. This then goes back into DVD Author to create chapters and menus.
