It was about time for a format etc and now I have installed all the same files needed, AviSynth 2.0.8, MPEG2DEC.DLL and CCE 2.50. Whereas before I was getting 0.9 for DVD to DVD encoding (my main use) I am now getting 0.8. Now, not a massive difference but it adds up with 4 passes on a 2 hour movie.

Does anyone know what could possibly have caused this and how I might solve this? Could I use some alternate version of MPEG2DEC for better speed (as long as video quality is not reduced)?

I have a 1.6 P4 processor and my speeds have been pretty much constant until now.

Much thanks in advance.

when you formatted you may have reset your bios also,

your bios controls how fast your processors runs (what frequency)

consult your chip manufacturer, or look on the web to find the right frequency,

then reset it in the bios...
it should come up as a number times a multiplier, change both until you have the right frequency again.

that's the likely problem.

otherwise, if you formatted FAT32, instead of NTFS, that may drop the speed some...

also, you may have downloaded some spyware or the such.

that's all I can think of =/
