Hi there all, i am a newbee on this but still hanging on, i have now made 2 successfully dvd backups using the big 3.
And the program i am using is doitfast4u,batchccews, reauthor, numenu4u scenarist version, cce, scenarist, ifoedit, dvd decrypter, avisynt, imgtool and ifoupdate.
And here comes my question, what program does scenaid replace, and exactly when in the progress do i use it, is there still bugs in it?
And do you guys recomend using scenaid instead?
Sincerely Zilwer

Scenaid can replace ReAuthorist. Scenaid is useful when you need to demux the DVD's in DIF4U by vobid (whether there are duplicate vob's or seamless branching in the dvd). But this isn't the only time you can use it. You can use it for all your backups if you want, it's just a matter of preference. ReAuthorist is good if you want to disable any vts that you didn't in DIF4U, or if you want to change the bitrate.

Hi Zilwer,

Congrats on your first sucessfull attempts using 'the big 3' method!

to clarify a few things:

as Angelus has stated, Scenaid is intended to replace ReAuthorist in the back-up process.
although it is only in its early beta stage, Scenaid is already proving to be a indespensible alternative to RA when creating your scripts for import into Scenarist.

the advantages Scenaid has, is that it has excellent support by its developer (D3s7) with continual updates being made. it can also handle projects which require demux by vobid, which RA cannot handle.
the only drawback is that some users report errors as far as subtitles are concerned, although this can easily be avoided by setting in options - 'do not import subs' - and importing manually afterwards in Scenarist (but i repeat, for the majority of projects this is not required).

now, personally, i only use RA for the generation of the script as i have found that using RA's bitrates to encode, can sometimes lead to oversized projects. so my workflow would be:

DIF4U > NuMenu4U > DoCCE4U/BatchCCE > ReAuthorist > Scenarist

so it is a logical process to then incorporate Scenaid:

DIF4U > NuMenu4U > DoCCE4U/BatchCCE > Scenaid > Scenarist

although please note that you could run Scenaid at any point after DIF4U.

hope that helps

I would like to make a small addition:

In the case of duplicate pgcs RA needs manual scenarist work and scenaid doesn't, which is quite nice if you aren't too experienced with scenarist.

Besides that i think d3s7 will add (or has added already) the ability to let scenarist run completely automated. So you just fire up scenaid, this will start scenarist compile etc and afterwards you only do ifoupdate (and then again maybe d3s7 will add that abiliy too)
