Back up my PC games to DVD

I hope this topic doesn't get closed.

I have just bought Medal of Honor for the second time as my original became that scratched it refused to install.

Is there a way of backing up this game from 2 cd's on to a dvd. I do not wish to remove the protection I just want it to install from if the original becomes damaged again. I would be able to use my original to play and get past the protection but would prefer my backup to be a dvd.

Any ideas? My worry would be if I put it on to DVD it would ask for the second disc.

you could create two 1:1 ISO files of the CDs and burn these two as files to the DVD. Then you play with the original CDs and when one becomes unreadable you take the ISO from the DVD and burn a new CD exactly like the old one was. I'm not much into gaming, so i don't know if it is actually possible to make 1:1 ISOs of those CDs (protection blah blah) but if you arrive to recreate a working CD from such an ISO this method should be easy and safe. On the other hand, why not just make 1:1 copies of the CDs and play on those instead of playing with the original CSs...

If your game will copy / backup to CD and still play from the backup, you could makes ISO's of the CD's and burn them on DVD. ( I do this with some games, as it is easier to keep 3 or 4 backup DVD's safe than 20 odd backup CD's.) As I understand it, that is no different from "backing up" DVD's under fair use, and is ok to discuss.


If this wont work for you, than you are out of luck, as you would then be entering dangerous territory here to go any further.

Well, this may be fair use of CDs, but our forum does not cover CD gaming protection schema; there are plenty of other locations on the web where such things are discussed.
