question about lagging in video (studdering)

My video studders after I capture it

I'll play it in windows media player and it studders a lot

What is causing this?

I'm using virtual dub with the settings listed in the capture faq...

If you need any of my other settings please let me know

Could it be that the huffyuv codec is not that good at playback?
