Hi, is there anyway to resize an Mpeg 2 file without re-encoding.

I have a file which is encoded at 2500 Kb, 640x480 and would like to resize it to 720x480 so i can use it on a dvd. Would like to get around re-encoding it to preserve quality.

I've made an avs file with bicubic resize and got that working fine, i just need a program that could somehow save the resized movie. Tried virtual dub and no luck.

You cannot resize without re-encoding.

One thing you can do is try an authoring program that will accept non-standard resolutions (e.g. dvdlab) or you can try patching the header (using DVDPatcher) to fool the authoring program into believe the video is dvd spec compliant.

But even if the above is technically possible for 680 x 480 - typically this method is used with SVCD resolution of 480 x 480 - your dvd player would have to support the nonstandard resolution.
